CEA (Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique et aux Energies Alternatives) is a French government-funded technological research organization. It has been carrying out a transverse program entitled “New Technologies for Energy” with common goals to the European Research community and the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA). This program aims at developing technical solutions addressing the stakes of alternative energy resources.
CEA bridges research area and industry sector to facilitate the development of scientific solutions jumping from TRL 2-3 to TRL 4-7. CEA is represented in CAPTure by CEA/DAM, Le Ripault center. Under its main mission (defense), this group has developed high level skills in the field of materials and surface processing.
The Materials Department of the CEA Le Ripault and in particular the Thermal Spray laboratory is specialized in developing specific and innovative oxidation protective layer, and has more than 30 years of experience in plasma spraying technology.
In the Competitive Solar Power Towers project, CEA is responsible for:
- Enhance optical properties of materials
- Manufacture high-temperature elements of receiver
